Default SC Upholding Decree

As a matter of fact, the current regime in Pakistan didn’t come into power contesting general elections, inasmuch as it was backed to come into power.*

As a result, there cropped up anarchy and unrest, inflation went even higher, and the law and order situation in the country got worse. Things got worse when the EC postponed the elections.

Today, the Supreme Court invalidated the EC’s decision to postpone elections and upheld its decree to hold elections on May 14, 2023, whereas the Federal Cabinet refuted the SC’s decree.

Another grand quarrel seems to be brewing in the country, seeing as governments too often implicate themselves in contravention. The politicians need to accept the SC’s verdict and abide by the law.

In case the government continues to refute the SC’s decree, the SC seems likely to send them back home. To avoid such a situation, the government ought to accept the SC’s decree.
