Responsibilties of an Assistant Director in ISI include various assignments related to intelligence and national security duties including analysis, office and field work,coordination with different government departments etc.The job comes under civil services rules as goverened under ministry of defence with same pay package as of any grade 17 government officer.However there is an extra special allownce equivalent to 20 % of basic pay(about Rs 2000). As one has to serve in cantonments and military environments, civil officers enjoy all facilities(Mess,Accomodations,transport) available to army officers.It is a good job but no comparison with CSS.
