Bhagwandas likely FPSC chairman
Islamabad—Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Tuesday forwarded the summary for appointment of Chairman Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) to the President House, sources said.

Well placed sources told Independent News Pakistan (INP) on Tuesday that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, for approval from President House, has sent a summary regarding appointment of new Chairman FPSC comprising names of former Justice Supreme Court Rana Bhagwandas, former Secretary Cabinet Ghiyasuddin and former Secretary Trade Asif Shah.

The sources said that though names of three key personalities have been sent to President House for Chairmanship of FPSC, however former justice SC Rana Bhagwandas is most probably to be appointed for the slot. Former Secretary Cabinet Ghiyasuddin belongs to Balochistan and he is brother of Nasiruddin, Principled Secretary to former Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali. While former Secretary Trade Asif Shah is from NWFP and he is member of FPSC.

In accordance with constitution of the country, the power for making appointment of the Chairman FPSC is in the hands of President who would soon appoint the new Chairman after consultation with Secretary President House Salman Farooqi.

The office of the Chairman FPSC was vacant for last four months after Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Shahid Hamid completed his tenure on March 30 this year. Shahid—INP
