Well, as i said in another thread that CULTURE is more powerfull then RELIGION, so we sometime confuse cultural paractice with religious practices. Have u seen the social condition of women in north west frontier province and tribal areas of FATA ? is it due to islamic teaching or their culture ?
So the powefull section of the society, with the help of religious leaders, declare the cultural practices as islamic practices and nobody can speak against it.
Similarly, if u see muslim women in other cultures like in west, in Turkey and Malaysia, u will find a quite different picture although they are also true muslims like the women of our tribal area !
So, there is nothing to worry at all as both sections of women are behaving according to the norms of their society.
Change is a slow process and if u r in hurry, then arrange for a REVOLUTION to bring change is society. Revolution can be brought through the power of ballot in civilized society or through the power of GUN in other socities where the principle of MIGHT IS RIGHT is practised. Now decide which socity we are ?
