make

Remember that if you use make with the meaning 'cause something' or 'force someone to do something' then you need to use the pattern:

'make + object + infinitive without 'to''. (infinitive without 'to'' is called 'bare infinitive)

They made him clean the house.

They made him to clean the house.(wrong)

NOTE

The exception to this rule is when make is in the passive, when you must use 'to' with the infinitive.

The prisoners were made to clean out their cells.
