Q. With the passage of time the rate of decay of a radioactive element will
a. Increase Exponentially
b. Decrease Linearly
c. Becomes Zeron in 2 half lives
d. None of these
I think its b but i am not sure what this linear thing is about >????

correct answer is D:
reason:
a is wrong, becoz decay rate decrease (not increases)
b is wrong, becoz decay rate never decrealse linearly, if it decrease linearly it will become zero but it never b zeor(although tends to zero, but not equal to zero)
C is wrong , becoz it never become zero
d is right, becoz, decay rate decreases inverse exponentially, (initial state, it is 1, after one half life it will be half, after two half life it will be one-forth, after 2 half life it will be one-eighth, then one-sixteenth and so on. (never become zero)
