It is our social apathy that men are gauged with wealth not with ideas. A person having strong economic background is welcomed warmly and people pay heed to his words - what he said in a function are regarded as final words. On the other day these words are on the lips of the participants.

On the other hand - persons having highest knowledge but lack wealth are considered as nothing as just a utopia and people don't pay heed to his words and ideas.

Islam stood against this type of class distinction and denied all kinds of discrimination except person having the highest moral and ethical life - is considered as closest to Almighty Allah and of highest value i.e. Muttaqi.

No one distribute his wealth, whether legal or ill-earned, among masses but people still held them in esteem which they don't deserve. People worship wealthy because wealth has such an attraction and impact on their lives that they don't hesitate from their actions. :p
