Tis is a misconception that History of Urdu is worth reading for paper.There will be no question from history in the both the papers of Urdu.So to spend time on tis will be wastage of time ,in my point of view.

Books for URDU :--

1 ) Urdu General by Mehar Hayat Sial ( published by ILMI )
2 ) Ilmi Urdu Mazameen by Ilmi Publishers.
3 ) Urdu Grammar by Munsaf Khan Sajab
4 ) Urdu Grammar of 9th & 10th inhapardazis
5 ) Complete courses of Urdu in FA & BA .

There is compulsory paper of 200 marks in FA.There are two papers of
Urdu in BA , one of 200 marks and one of 100 marks.Go through the
course of these papers in detail because basic level is of BA.Many
contents of the paper of PMS 2005 were from the course of FA & BA.

6 ) Moslty verses for explanation stems three poerts ( Ghalib , Iqbal ,Mir )
There are papers in the course of MA Urdu which cover these in full.
To books are recomended in this regard :--

a) Special Study of MIR and Ghalib.
b) Special Study of Iqbal.

Some Suggestions :---

1 ) Writing practice is very important.This is the area in which we lack generally. We try to develop our expression in English but neglet Urdu and consider it a home language. So practice it on daily basis.
2 ) There are many words which are used in Urdu.These words are of English language but we consider these as the words of Urdu.Try to avoid these words as much as possible to create orignality in the floew of language.Use of these words irritate the examiner because we attempyt the paper of Urdu language purely.
3 ) Maintain a bunch ( 40 to 50 ) of multidimaesional verses of different poets.Quote these verses in the essay and explanation of verses question .It will help a great deal securing good marks.Be careful usuing these because irrelevant verses will irritate the examiner and on e or two examples of these will create bad impression on over all performance.
4 ) Daily select an editorial from Dawn. First translate this in Urdu.It will help solve the question of translation from English to Urdu.After it make a precis of translated text .It will help solving talkhees question.Questions for English to Urdu and Talkhees are ususly taken from these editorials.
