my dear you can use fountian pen, ball point, pointer for writing. you can use black or blue colors only. and i suggest you one thing not to use marker because it is so bold, where you want to give heading just use opposite color pointor, for example, if you are writing with black color than give the heading with blue color or vice versa.
pointor of Signo Ball is very good.
If you highlight the dates with opposite color than it'll be also fruitful for you my dear.
and yes you can make the sketches with pencil, but must remember to remove it.
