Smile CDGL to implement law on petrol pumps

:8:THANKS TO DAWN 25-11-2010:8:
LAHORE, Nov 25: The city district government of Lahore has decided to implement in letter and spirit the law prohibiting the setting up of filling stations in close proximity to residential, commercial and state buildings.

A meeting of the design committee presided over by District Coordination Officer Ahad Cheema on Thursday decided that the measure was inevitable to prevent any untoward incident.

For any alteration in the approved site plan, permission would have to be sought from a special committee. Express permission would be mandatory according to the commercial buildings bylaws in case a portion of a residential structure was to be used for business purposes.

Stern action would be taken against the owner for making alterations in the approved site plan at will and without the assistance of an architect. Permission for setting up CNG stations or petrol pumps would not be granted without a no-objection certificate from the environment wing of the City District Government of Lahore, the meeting decided.
