Some websites do suggest this answer.
But when you search for desert rat, gerbil or kangaroo rat on wikipedia, it doesn't say anything like that, rather it emphasis more on the fact that the kidneys of gerbil are 4 times more efficient than humans in retaining water and excrete salts and other stuff. But they haven't mentioned anywhere that gerbil or desert rat or kangaroo rat don't drink water in its own life. Am kinda confused about this fact.
