You need to have more and more readings. You can have this practice by reading news papers (this will help you in Current Affairs as well). and after that practice writing. It'll be better if you get your writings checked by some experts. and most important thing, discussions increase your analytical capacities, so do participate in discussions live or onboard.

I don't think that Mercantile law will be much helpful for Economics. See Economics consists of two papers.
Paper I is Economic Theory, which you'll have to study in depth. For this you can consult K.K. Dewett and P.A.Samuelson. And paper II is Pakistan Economy and a little of Applied Economics, that can help you in Current Affairs and Pak Affairs also. For preparation of this you'll have to keep a close eye on economic issues and policies.
