It is an order issued by a Judge in a civil or criminal action that has the power of compulsion. To defy a Judicial order is an offence.

A Judicial order can compel you to turn over minor children to a guardian or the state. It can order you to limit the number of protesters at a site etc etc etc. It can order you to turn over evidence or provide assistance to another agency.

A Judicial Order will be limited to the jurisdiction of the court issuing the order. For example a juvenile court generally can not handle real property, district courts are often limited in dollar amount and sentences.
