Actually, you are quite right in saying all this..and i appreciate your effort to take the pains and ponder on these grey areas...
the only thing i will mention here ia that the syllabus is not upto date and it must not be kept as a standard for selecting material to study..Rather i would say that recent topics and issues must also be added to the preparation in addition to the syllabus...
