MJ tax collection in this country is a joke. That FBR figure is filled with sales tax.Direct tax i.e. income tax which is the more fair version since it targets people with higher income as opposed to sales tax which targets rich and poor alike is absolutely pathetic.Of the 180 million Pakistanis, only 1.7 million Pakistanis pay any income tax.Of these 1.7 million, 1.6 million pay the base minimum income tax of 21,000 PKR which is the tax on monthly salary of 25,000.This tax is also not paid voluntarily but cut from salaries before they are paid to recipients.Pakistan has the lowest tax to GDP ratio in Asia, IRS is probably the most depressing group in all the Civil Service simply because so many people don't pay any tax at all!

But i would like to ask Trotsky about working conditions in places other than Karachi? Also what actions can they take against tax cheats?
