I am going to share one of the methods which I found quite effective in learning English even prior to joining an English Language Academy.
I learnt English while listening carefully to the commentary during football and cricket matches.
Along with that, I have always been fond of watching cartoons ( especially PINNOCCHIO ) which enabled me learn a lot while I was still at school.
Later on, I listened to English News which further improved my expression and understanding.
Reading a good novel also helped me a lot.
