Where there a number is written in figurative form in a hyphenated adjective or compound word as you call it, the quantity is used in its singular form.
Example.
[Correct] Pakistan played a three-match series against England.
[Incorrect] Pakistan played a three-matches series against England.
Apply the same rule to the sentence in question.
[Correct] Ten-foot long snake.
[Incorrect] Ten-feet long snake.
I hope it helps.
