I think it should be option A because, besides the minor gramatical error, rest of the statement of this option seems to be comprehensive and logical.
Now comes the second part, here also 23 hour and 56 minute approximately are equal to 24 hour and that is what we hear everyday. (as it was Everyday Science paper :-) ).
Besides all this, I appreciate that you pinpointed very minor details of MCQs.
