Afghanistan-Pakistan Past Relationship and APTTA
28 Oct 2010 APTTA- Afghanistan Paksitan Transit Trade Agreement
Helpful to Pakistan:
1) Trade Increases among Pakistan and Lanlocked Neighbours-Central Asian countries.
2) 1965: Survival War by Pakistan helped by King Zahir Shah and vice versa in 1979 by Pakistan.
Benefits of trade:
1) Import tariff price up-to 2 billion by 2012.
2) Route to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to have a trade as they are farther from seaport.
3) Pakistan's freights export to Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics(CARs).
4) Transit Trade to India through land-route: Wagha Border, making earniest relations with it.
Disadvantages:
1) Smuggling through Durand Line.
2) Imported freight re-routed to Khyber Pakhtoon and re-exported to Pakistan as Afghan Trade Custom Duty is one Fourth of Pakistan's Custom Levy--0.08 per cent per good.
3) India may approach to Afghanistan and CARs states through Pakistan's land routes without paying tax-according to this trade agreement.
Valuable comments and additions would be appreciated.
Regards:
