How much time should psychology take on average for good preparation. I feel notes making process is quite time consuming . I have been able to make notes of 2.5 chapters in almost 3-4 weeks. Quite slow ..is it?

yes dear it is slow but i have a point in favor that notes you made are photo copied in your mind and requires minimum time for revision on the contrary when you you revise course from the book that requires more time , so the time is compensated . It means making notes is a better way
But if you want to study it from book don't make further notes just make points on pages of any topic that you think are important
this is less time consuming and in the end you will revise from these points and if you find something troublesome from points then you can refer book
