There can be no absolute answer or parameter to show you whether you would be able to clear css or not. Neither of us, aspirants, know! Its just one's belief in himself and putting yourself to the hard work. However, lets try to think together and see if you would be able to do CSS?

First of all, let talk about eligibility, If you are a Pakistani and academically and age-wise eligible for CSS(You may like to check the eligibility criteria for this in CSS Forum)! If you are eligible for CSS, then the track is clear, the road ahead is clear to move forward.

Now, I sensed a bit of the inferiority complex in your post, as you have mentioned about your background being that of rural area, it does not matter at all. The essence of competitive exams is to bring forward the finest pieces from whole society regardless of any background. If a son of a Blacksmith can become the Mussolini, I think your rural background should not stand as barrier between you and your dreams and wishes!(If however you still have some doubt about your motivational level, you need to go through the forum and realize that there are every type of people from urban as well as rural selected in CSS)

So now that you are eligible, and motivated enough, you can jump to selection of subject. CSS Forum is one of the best way to get help from, about selection of subjects. I am not qualified enough to advise you, but would suggest to select subjects that you can cover easily and have some interest. People over here, would guide you about this keeping your academic background in view when you reach this stage.

Now you have subjects in hand, a vision in mind about when actually you are going to appear, so its time to start studying. But before this, you should attempt this small experiment. Go to the 'Essay' Section of the CSS Forum, and try to go through(read) as much as posts there and people's questions and answers there, if you can easily understand every word of vocabulary used by the CSP Officers and CSS aspirants, then you are fine and ready to go ahead towards subject specific study. However, you find words used in the posts, meanings of which are unknown to you, it means you will need to give a bit extra attention to the English. (You can find posts and guidance about vocabulary improvement in the forum as well)

Its time for the subject specific study, if you are to study Pakistan Affairs, go to the respective threat in forum, and see all the 'sticky posts' over there. Find the common questions, old papers, most commonly asked questions, general tips about that subjects and the books names etc which you would need to go through. and then you can start study on your own as you have almost every details about that given subject.

Furthermore, if you have the links of some CSP Officers, its highly recommended to meet them and get some general advice form them about subject selection and preparation. And also, whenever you have problem, you can ask them directly so it would be much helpful for you, but if the CSP's are not available CSS forum is always here to guide you.

There is nothing difficult in it in my opinion, you need to burn the ships behind and move ahead, have belief in yourself and keep your moral high! One thing should however be noted, that in CSS exam you should try to observe and study topics a bit analytically. i-e you should not come up with a run of mill essay about the given topic, you should be critical, opinionated and should have the ability to get solutions.

And at the end of everything, the best way to judge yourself is by solving past papers in exam time frame, get the subjective portion of the paper and use the normal exam time of 2 and half hour for this portion and solve it on plain paper as that of CSS and you will ultimately know if you are up to the mark or not!

No one is born as 'Able to clear CSS' or with 'CSS clearing abilities'! Its all about hard, smart and consistent work.

Best of Luck!
