Same thing happened in 1965 when Pakistani forces wrote a new chapter of history. The enemy had thought that it would soon occupy Lahore but was responded in the same way and defeated badly. A single Air force pilot made a world record by destroying 6 war jets of India. It was again India who contacted Super Powers to intervene and stop the war. On the contrary, Pakistan Army had started occupying territory of India.

In 1971 Pakistani forces did not want to kill their on Muslim brothers and hence, they let the creation of another Muslim country, Bangladesh.

As far as Marshall Laws are concerned, Pakistan Army never wanted to intervene in the affairs of government. But it was the public opinion which compelled Pakistan Army to intervene. Just like now, majority people of Pakistan want Army to take over the regime to kick out Corrupt and US-PRO politicians.
