An in-depth medical examination is conducted by the civil surgeon upon joining the academy, which includes blood test, urine test, chest X rays, measurement of height, weight and eyesight, tests for red-green colourblindness etc. Eye-sight test is conducted using the standard opticians' eye test display board.
