It is believed that most effective & cheapest way to bring about mobility in any society, is to educate females. There is a chain of mechanism behind this idea. Napoleon once said “Best woman gives best Child”, so an educated women definitely qualifies most of the criteria which makes her best, hence she should be eligible for giving birth to best child.
Apart from that an educated girl not only transforms her manners, beliefs, values and attitudes to her subsequent generation but also prove of a being a harbinger of future progress.
Last week, a teenage girl, Malala Yousaf Zai was shot in head because of her involvement in acquiring and dissipating knowledge. She was well aware of the mechanism which I explained above, but obscurantists, who wanted to sustain their hegemony by sidelining the sensitive gender, made a coward attempt.
The girl, who originally wanted to be become a physician, switched her mind toward politics, justification she gave behind this swap, is the lack of good politicians in country. True, the ideas of the girl were based on volatility of political scenario in the country, but before her wishes being fulfilled, armed men, belong to a bigot and frantic group of people, brought all her aims to ashes.
Bellicosity & intellectualness of the girl was not only praised by Pakistan, but all over the world. International humanitarian organizations condemned this attack and supported her idea. In the short span of time, this young girl got the status of a grand celebrity due to her holy cause.
According to Global Monitoring Report (GMR) 2012, 60 million children aged between 5-9 years are out of schools. Moreover, adult literacy ratio in Pakistan is 50%, while in rest of the third world countries it stands at 80%. Pakistan’s overall ranking of Education Development Index (EDI) is at 113th position out of 120 countries.
From above statistics one can assume the social lag of country. Females who were already denied of their right of education after Zia’s “chaddar aur chaardiwari” policy, but this indignant attack have dragged the situation to even worst position.
Females who proved to the world of their competitiveness at head & shoulders with that of their male counterparts, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, the Oscar award winner for her film ‘Saving Face’, is the live example in front of us. Not even they are equivalent to that of males but in most of the cases they surpassed males.
As a matter of fact, a good & educated woman provides best to the society & will initiate a trend to continue to subsequent generations. The cornerstone, which Malala put forth, must be forged further to make the bright vision of the poor girl to achieve its future endeavors, which will further pave the way for eradication of social evils from our society and will become the cause of prosperity of country.
