Cut your coat according to your cloth

This maxim utters a very practicable use of resources that a man owns. His expenses must not exceed his resources or income. He should not indulge into extravagance. He should live within what is available to him. When expenses exceed resources, it creates deficit and it becomes impossible to overcome this situation. A man should have pragmatic approach towards this aspect and he must endeavor to act prudently in life to live within his means.
A man who spends his resources cautiously, never have to rely on others and he lives independently and never regrets. It rather aids him to deal with unexpected strains of life judiciously and become impregnable to disasters. He neither has to bow before others nor is his self-respect challenged. In contrasts, one, who squanders his resources and is not able to manage his affairs, faces inevitable challenges in his life. He loses his independency and has to seek others’ hands for help. When he fails to get any assistance from his kins and friends, he feels himself at sea. Then he finds only way to fulfill his desires and needs with corruption and evil deeds. Such persons who are unable to pay their debts, they often land themselves in unpleasant situation.
This proverb is a message to all nations and people to keep themselves within the limits of resources available to them. Pakistan is facing multitude of problems and challenges now a day due to lavishly and unaccountable expenses of our politicians. And we have reached at a stage where we have to bow before foreign nations to meet our needs. It is the result of not living within the limits of our resources. If we wish to be called honorable nation we should confide ourselves to our needs not the desires. Otherwise the coat will be shortened if the cloth is not available and then try to wear that coat will further pull to pieces and will no longer available.
