From my experiences, I want to suggest you, that instead of following a particular book, do your preparation trick-fully. The books for different tests are available in markets of different publishers. Dogar, Karvan and much more. But I have noticed one thing, they ALL are published for 'commercial' purposes. By commercial purpose, I mean that the intention of the publisher, at time of composing was to simply 'combine' every related stuff, instead of sorting it out. For example, I bought a book for the preparation of "Tehsildar test'. That book was of a very famous publisher and was highly and most recommended one. But it was too lengthy and of hundreds pages with lots of facts and figures which , for me at least, was difficult to prepare fully. And even I could by giving lots of time, it would have been a worst use of time, that I could have done something way better than that book. Same for State Bank test; I bought a book and observed the same things. And even the guys, who prepared from those books, told me that only few questions came from these books.
My friend is a publisher. He composes/publishes different book for different tests. All he does is, gets as much material as he can, according to the defined test pattern. . Then arranges that in material in a book and publishes this.
I want to give you some tips which I think may benefit you. I followed this for many test of NTS and almost, with the grace of Allah almighty, cleared all.
See the test pattern. And prepare accordingly. For example, if there is a portion of Current Affairs in test. No book can help you in this regard but the newspapers and TV. For this, start reading newspapers and watching news and other channels.
For example, if there is any portion for a particular law, for example in Tehsil dar test, there was some portion for land laws, study those laws in particular. If there is portion for mathematics questions, find some GAT type book. Same case for English.
These all are my personal observation and experiences..
