Default With confession to National Policy

Pakistan is the biological father of Kashmir issue, had Pakistan not interfered through tribal looters backed by GHQ, there was no ground for Kashmir issue. Maharaja had already talked of stand still agreement and India had no intentions to invade Kashmir; according to a famous Kashmiri historian G.M Mir: "Quaid-e-Azam had also agreed to this proposal" (Ref: Kishwar-e-Kashmir ki Pach Hazar Sala Tareekh)
Now saying that what should be the solution; India or Pakistan? None of these two seems to be a logical solution, neither India nor Pakistan would like to handover its "occupied" territories to rival nation. Then we are left with two other options:
1. Division of Kashmir either on current status or with redrawing of lines.
2. Independent Kashmir.

First option can be hunky-dory for both Pakistan and India in addition to China, the grabber of Aksa-i-chin, but this can never be accepted by Kashmiris, there is no ethnic, cultural or religious base for this division this will only be a cake partition for Indo-Pak at a humanitarian cost of division of blood and flesh.

Option 2 is a much ignored solution due to vocal monopoly. Historically Kashmir holds the record of being independent for a much longer duration as compared with any other state in subcontinent. This option literally known as third option has some legal complexities being not included in plebiscite options in UNSC resolutions 47 but its practical implications are much more reasonable and acceptable for all stakeholders. UNSC resolution 47 is under chapter VI and resolutions passed under Chapter VI of UN charter are considered non binding and have no mandatory enforceability as opposed to the resolutions passed under Chapter VII so inclusion of third option can not be a complicated walk through. Independence should assure that interests of both India and Pakistan will remain safe and this is possible by involvement of arbitrators and International organizations. Sustenance of Kashmir will primarily rely on its own resources and strategic and security agreements with India and Pakistan.
