"Truth is often bitter"
Truth is a bitter pill to swallow that hurts the self esteem thats why people sugar coat the truth with lie to avoid its bitterness.It is true that everyone know his demerits but when others point out our loopholes then we deny from this.A blind man is awair of his disability but if people remind him of his blindness he become upset.We can not reject the reality , it chases us till we accept it open heartdly.No doubt, truth is bitter but it is better than lie. One truth may saves us from many lies So it is preferable to adopt a way if truth. A lie leads us to the blind ally.
In islam truth is very important code of ethic.Lie is consider a big sin in Islam.Abdullah ibn masood relates that Prophet (p.b.u.h) said
"A true action leads to the path of virtue and virtue paves a way of a person to paradise, and said person continues to speak the truth till in the sight of Allah he is named saddiq (truthful), lying lead to the vice and vice leads to indecent acts and person goes on lying till in the sight of Allah he is named a liar.(Bukhari and muslim)
A lie may saves us for a short period but it will be disasterous when it reveals. A famous proverb
"A clear conscience bears no trouble"
also shows that once you swallow the bitterness of truth then it will save you from many troubles.Truth is bitter but it is victorious also but most people are afraid of its bitterness and always feel gloomy to face the reality .
A famous saint sheikh Abdul Qadir Gillani decided to get higher education out of city , at the time of departure his mother sewed forty gold coins with his shirt and advised him to speak truth.On the way , a gang of robbers attacked on all passengers .A robber came to him and asked had you anything ? he replied truthfully i had forty gold coins robber thought that he was making him a fool but when his shirt torn out forty gold coins appeared .When robber asked him about his truthfulness he told him about his mother advice.robber became impressed and return all looted money.
This example shows that truth seems to be bitter but it is better also , we should face it open heart.
