I) Nuclear energy is an important contributor for power sector, providing about 13% electricity worldover. Countries having nuclear power are using its energy for generation of electricity e.g. France is getting more than 70% of its energy from nuclear power, India is generating 4780 MW from its 6 nuclear power plants, China is having four nuclear plants with continuous expansion and by 2020 it will be generating around 80 GW by this sector and will become the highest user of nuclear power, USA is getting 20% of its energy from this sector and so on. Nuclear energy is not costly in terms of its raw material but its maintenance, safety and solid waste management costs are high.




II) If this is discussion on usage of nuclear resource for the energy, then I think those countries have not failed (have a look at statistical data at para 1, with references at bottom of this post).




III) Many Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia helped Pakistan with kind and cash during its tough times for the cause of nukes. Pakistan also remained exchanging its nuclear technology with Iran ( it is entirely another story what happened to this exchange program)..



IV). In days of peace, nukes have worth, because they keep a deterrence from possibility of any attack.
