there is usually a lot of hue and cry from the prospective candidates for CSS examinations regarding essay writing. Let me share my past experience of essay writing in CSS-2012 exams. I got 40 marks with no preparation. believe me.i remember when 30 mins were left before the paper, i read a topic of terrorism from some essay book. After reading it for 5 mins, i started praying for this topic to come in exams. But luck was not with my side as this topic was in the paper. Anyhow, i wrote on energy crises. The most important thing was that i even did not know that one has to write outline at the start of the essay. So, my essay was of almost 15 pages with no outline. My paper was very neat and clean with no cuttings. There was neither any quote nor any facts and figures in my paper. But i think my headings were the distinguished feature of my paper. I never tried to be out of my box. i wrote in plain and simple english.They were related to the topic.I still managed to get 40 marks
Most of the candidates tend to focus so much on this essay paper that they lose their originality of writing in the paper. One should try to write as simple as possible. I think this paper demands originality. One should be crafty at what he writes. Neatness of paper really counts towards scoring high. One must also focus on making his/her hand writing better. Hand writing depicts the personality of the candidate. These small things count a lot.
