Plato communism is for the whole society but not by the whole society:
it is aristocratic in nature.
it is imposed on the best few for all the members.

Plato communism extend to the guardian class and meant for both sexes.
The producing or appetite class is exempted from it

Reasons as to why plato contrived communism?

To purge them (guardian class) from worldly temptations ,since that will distract them from their duty to the state.

Political offices were captured to promote economic interests:
So far as communism of property was concerned . it was solely designed for rulers those who serve the state. The time he was preaching such a philosophy athens was ruled by selfish rulers who were good at nothing except for furthering their own economic interests.
