A magistrate of first class has among other,the following powers:-
1.. To issue a search warrant for tracing persons wrongfully confined.
2.. To require security from persons for keeping the peace.
3.. To require security for good behaviour from vagrants and suspected persons.
4.. To discharge surreties, to order removal of nuisance.
5.. To take proceedings under section 145 of crpc where a dispute concerning land is likely to cause breach of the peace..
6.. To attach the subject of the dispute.
7.. To record statements and confessions under section 164 of crpc..
8.. To tender a pardon to an accomplice.
9.. To release certain convicted offenders on probation of good conduct instead of sentencing them to punishment, etc.
