AOA,
Well, following will answer your question:
Public relation procedures:
1. News releases, news letters, correspondence, reports, speeches, booklets, radio and television copy and technical materials.
2. Special publications, employee new letters and other communication directed to internal and external publics.
3. Arranging and managing press conference, celebrations, war programmes.
4. Appearing before groups and arranging platforms for others before appropriate audiences by managing a speaker's bureau.
5. Creating communication using multimedia knowledge and skill, art, photography, etc.
6. Gathering intelligence enabling the organization and strategies. Collaborating with management in problem solving process.
7. Working with executives and other organizational representatives to prepare for them dealing with the media and for making presentation and public appearances.
Administrating the operation of the public relations functions personal, budget and programmes.
Some guidelines for practitioners are as follows:
1. Talk from the point of public interest not the organization.
2. Speak in personal terms whenever possible.
3. State the most important fact in the beginning.
4. If you don't want some statement quoted, don't make it. Spokespersons should avoid talking off the record.
5. Don't argue with the reporter or lose your cool.
6. If the question contains offensive language or simply words you don't like, don't repeat them even to deny them.
7. If the reporter asks a direct question, give an equally direct answer.
8. Tell the truth h even if hurts.
9. If spokesman doesn't know the answer to a question, one should simply say, I don;t know but I'll find for you.
10. Don't exaggerate the fact.
Every one has certain rights and no one has the right to abolish them. The code of ethics on one hand allow the maximum freedom and the other maintains certain rules doe the survival of any system. The Public relations society of America is the only professional communications organization that has created a grievance procedure taking action against members on ethic grounds. In Pakistan, The Pakistan press council formed a code of ethics in May 1983.
