I hope everyone is well.

I am posting this message to to ask for help in clarifying a few confusions that I had while looking at the past papers. I had posted these earlier on a different thread but did not receive any response and am hoping to get one through a new thread.

I would be very grateful for any guidance on the below mentioned problems:

From 2013:
* Q5b) The sample size is small and the population variance is unknown. However, we do not know about the distribution of the population (normal or not). How should such a question be attempted?
* Q6a) This is again a small sample problem about differences of means. I would have used the t-distribution, however, there are two problems: 1) Is the population normal?; 2) Are the population variances equal or unequal? How would you have attempted this question?
