Essentially no difference. 'Types' is slightly more formal, more 'scientific', and would appear in academic papers more often than 'kinds', perhaps.
'There are three
types of sentences: simple, compound and complex.'
'I like all kinds of chocolate.'
'Kinds' and 'types' are nonetheless still interchangeable in these examples.

This is some type of mushroom.
This is some kind of mushroom.
There are different types of books
There are different kinds of books
Budha you are going to take your second attempt, Philosophy is one of your optional subjects and so far you don't know the
difference between type and kind. Kya baat hai!
