mujh ko khabar naheeN miree miTTee kahaaN kee hay
Sometime I long for Kaaba ,sometime for my darling's street,
I do not know where my clay will find its last retreat.
Hasrat baras rahee hay mere mazaar par
kehte heN sab yeh qabar kisee no.jawaaN kee hay
My grave breathes an air of longings unrealised,
People say that someone young lies buried beneath.
qaaSid ki guftugoo se tasallee ho kis taraH
CHuptee naheeN woh jo teree zabaaN kee hay
How can the messenger's words my doubts allay,
What you yourself had said ,couldn't lie concealed.
sun kar miraa fasaana-e-Gham us ne yeh kahaa
ho jaa.ay jhooT sach yahee khoobee bayaaN kee hay
When he heard my tale of woe,thus did he remark,
To pass a lie as seeming truth marks the art of speech.
kyooN kar nah aa.ay khuld se Aadam zameen par
mozooN waheeN woh khoob hay jo shay jahaaN kee hay
Why shouldn't Adam exchange his heaven for the bliss of earth ?
On their native soil alone things bloom and breed.
urdu hay jis kaa naam hameeN jaantay heN ~DaaGh~
Hindustan meN dhoom hamaaree zabaaN kee hay
What they call Urdu ,Dagh, we alone do know,
Everywhere in Hindustan ,our language holds the field.
