Your duty will be to collect information regarding the task you are provided. and most of information is collected through telephone (but TA/DA bill zaroor banatay ha)

Civilians are given menial tasks, like verification of NGO's etc. or eg whenever there is a meeting or conference at any place somewhere in some hotel having foreigner citizens, AD is given task to verify his passport etc. Or he may be ordered to collect a data of terrorist from prison. another important duty of AD is that he make reports regarding security situation and use to send it to respective departments.
