Hey,
For the 1st sentence that you've corrected I'd like to make another correction:
I have been ill for three months. [am implies that he is ill now and doesn't denote time. Have been brings in the time element that one has been ill for 3 months. [Refer to exploring the world of english: present perfect tense for more detail].
Another correction: Gold is costlier than silver.
Gold and silver are material nouns the article 'the' can't be placed before them.
