That is what I feel like, we have regressed in many ways since 1947. I don't know how a society can reverse progress, it seems quite counter-intuitive.

I noticed many things dear but the urge to open my mouth about such things has increased considerably after I experience life in the West. Anyway, in the modern globalised world, patriotism is an old concept, we are becoming global citizens slowly. They say a country is like your parents, so if you have abusive parents, you might feel a connection with them but not love them a lot at the same time. Patriotism is a two way process.

Exactly Cogito, such kind of apathy/arrogance on part of responsible people is making the young generation feel disgusted. The PM should have been told that going outside is difficult if you are a Pakistani and that such PMs are not found in real liberal democracies.

So they have advised you to leave the country. It is for your good, not because of difference of opinion.
Westerns point out flaws in their system to make it even better. And it is possible over there to change the things according to will of people. But you are living in Pakistan King Falcon. Yahan Tabdeeli Pata Nahi Kab Aaegi.

You know what, I had similar feelings like you and I still do. Even though people over here and around the world in general have given me a lot of pain but that shouldn't change me into something like them, we should care about the ones who deserve it. I have grown up like an orphan in this country, seen all kinds of injustices being done to people, seen some good people too but they are not valued much in our society unfortunately. A poor and powerless person has a dog's life whereas the rich and powerful can get away with anything, there is too much corruption (not just about money but socially/morally, it is funny that our people limit morality to the volume of clothes on ones body but not ones character and ethical values). What I am trying to point out is, someone who criticises the country/culture a lot doesn't mean they are not patriotic, it could very much mean that they have felt a lot of pain and their arguments may be taken under an objective lens in comparison to successful countries/cultures. But the good things is, we have started talking about such things, media is active, people are more aware and connected to the global village and democratic traditions are getting stronger. With more education, global exposure and awareness, democracy and sincere Generals like Raheel Sharif, we are on a road to prosperity!
