I also made registers for words.
I read many books related to Islam , Literature and specially columns from newspaper. First I read and all difficult words wrote on register and then consult dictionary after doing all again I read book or column and try to remember and guess words.
It is difficult and time consuming but soon you will increase your vocabulary.
