Well, conflict is a harsh word for it but yes there are many such debates. Well debating is fine and healthy and one should not be wary of them but what we should be wary of is disrespecting each others' point of view.

As a kid I used to debate for the sake of belittling the other sects and boast of my own but my father inscribed this into me when it comes to religion:
"Ask and debate with them, not to prove your point, rather to know theirs!For a debate should end in enhanced mutual understanding, not mutual distrust"
