I would like to start working on English. But the syllabus recommend 12-14 books. Can some seniors guide me in how to start and recommend a core book for compulsory subjects especially English?
For basic grammar read wren and martin high school English grammar and for advance Michael swan practical English usage.

Start reading the dawn editorials and newspaper,it will improve your reading comprehension and also at the same time improve your grasp on current affairs.Bur when reading try to focus on sentence structure and style.

Note down the vocabulary and look it up in a dictionary, vocab can be learnt either from vocabulary list or from what you are reading.Learn vocabulary by heart and understand its meaning.

good luck!
