Default AM and FM
What is meant by FM and AM?

AM and FM:-the carrier waves in radio(signals) transmission is modulated(change) in two ways. In amplitude modulation (AM), the power of the carrier wave is changed to match the pattern of signals.while in frequency modulation (FM) the frequency of the carrier wave is changed to match the signals.
Previously most radio transmission was by amplitude modulation. An AM wave can travel a long distance as they are reflected from the ionosphere to follow the curvature of the earth. However, electrical interference in AM makes reception difficult.
Frequency modulated waves are not refelected around the curve of the earth and can be received as far as the horizon. these waves however, not interfered by out side sources. The quality of FM reception is also good as higher frequencies are carried more accurately.
