Interview: Karachi

Panel consisted of 05 people.
After the normal greetings, it followed "What did you prepare for interview?"
I visited the SBP website and skimmed the most recent publications and circulars. Also, revisited Economic Survey!
So what did you study in Economic Survey.
Ans: Overall highlights; GDP growth and share of sectors.
Ok. So what was the GDP growth rate? After that, it quickly followed with what is the difference between GDP and GNP? How do you calculate GDP and GNP ? This was fine. Then, which methods are used for measuring the income potential of a country? (Something similar to that, more or less). After a bit of fumble, they asked which was your favourite subject in bachelors?
Accounting, I said. Then the questioning shifted to another person. He asked all the basic questions;
What is NPV and IRR? How do you determine the discount rate for the discounting of cashflows? Okay.
What is Asset Turnover ratio? Acid Test ratio? Components of Financial Statements? Significance of the auditors sign-off date? Is he responsible for anything beyond that particular date? Which component of FS is prepared first?

At the end, general questions of family background, any problems with relocation ? Is family dependant on you ? Etc ...
It was pretty average.

There were around 30 candidates.
It took hardly 5-10 minutes for each interview.
They checked documents in the waiting area (with a cursory look; I must say). And
no one was carrying anything in the interview room. So I deliberately left the CV outside. And that was okay for them; odd for me though.

Panel behaviour was easing. No leg pullers. Positive overall. 2 persons were just watching, didn't ask a thing. They had an economics expert, and head of accounts. This is what someone told outside.
