I know am inviting severe criticism but honestly i believe ,
"THE WAR ON TERROR IS NOT WINNABLE WITH PAKISTAN " Nothing has harmed Pakistan more than this so-called "strategic " position. We still continue to live under same old myths and delusions of being indispensable due to our strategic position. And as for terrorism, do i need to mention that we support terrorism? U.S would be better of in its fight without Pakistan. |

@anglestar...
Actually this topic is so much, actually too much discussed in every day newspaper and also on this forum. I think i will again be copy-pasting stuff from this website or some other in order give you a very detailed answer. I do not think you want such a reply. If still interested in such an answer then kindly give me some time...I am engaged in a full-time job, wait till weekend. :P @waqas virk jat Pakistani's, including us, have a habit of poking their nose in alien affairs..The Non-alignment policy was the one that best suited Pakistan and worked out for India as well as you see she focused on more of their internal issues then seeking some role in international politics. By now, Pakistan is indispensable for WoT. The strategic depth that it wished for never existed and Afghans almost always acted hostile to Pakistan. By the way I asked criticism on the outline I posted. With this post on thread we are going "off topic".

Though i mentioned the specific points which makes PAkistan all the more important player in an on-going war in Aghanistan. But i could not document details ....so i am supplying you with details now. 1) SUPPLY ROUTES :- First comes supply routes. I put them first because they are central to any war-winning strategy. Lines of communication and supply routes are of fundamental importance to any war-effort. It would not be wrong to say that these are lifeblood to the war. America banks heavily on PAKISTANi supply routes. At the moment more than 50% of all supplies to combat troops are channeled through PAKISTAN. So, this gives PAKISTAN high importance in this war n AMERICA is cognizant of this fact. If you remember, PAKISTAN, in reply to across the border incursions, halted supply movement for just three days n that brought America to its heels. BUT, having said this, AMERiCA, after that incident, seriously started looking for alternative supply routes which it found through RUSSIA n other central Asian states. But these alternative routes cost America a lot n are complicated too.Anyways, supply routes make PAKSITAN inevitable in an ongoing war effort. 2) ISI'S HUMAN INTELLIGENCE :- Though ISI lacks technology-based intelligence but the sharpness and credibility of its human intelligence is time-tested and beyond any doubt. In fact, drone attacks are mostly conducted with intelligence cooperation of ISI which helps target high-value targets. SO, this helps CIA and in turn combat forces launch successful operations against so-called terrorists.If it were not for ISI's support, America would have been in more trouble than she currently finds herself in. 3) SOVIET EXAMPLE :- The humiliating defeat of RUSSIA in Afghanistan, not too long ago, was caused , among other factors, by PAKISTAN'S isi. AMERICA knows it very well. So, America cannot fool itself by either play down PAKISTAN's inevitability or belittling its importance. 4) STRATEGIC LOCATOIN :- PAKISTAN's geo-political n strategic location in this region makes it all the more important player in any war or "GREAT GAME". PAkistan borders Afganistan n it also offers cheap n not-so-complicated supply routes( already discussed.). 5) POROUS BORDER :- PAK-AFGHAN border is porous in the sense that across-the border movement is very easy and frequent. So, what happens is that INSURGENTS, after striking NATO-TROOPS, move back across the border towards Pakistani side. This puts combat troops at a disadvantaged position. In this connection, Pakistan can play vital role by atleast ensuring minimum movement across the border. Thats why AMEIRCA puts pressure on Pakistan to clamp down upon Haqqani network based in north wazirstan. Pakistan hesitates in donig so for her own legitimate n strategic interests.this is another thing that makes PAkistan inevitable in an ongoing war. 6) ISI'S CLOSE LINKS WITH TALIBAN :- ISI enjoys close links with TALIBAN groups since the days of SOVEIT intrusion. Now, considering American quest to hold dialogue with Taliban groups will require pakistan's support......... REGRDS......
