What is the age limit for Govt. servant

RULE: In the case of in Service Government Servants, who possess a minimum of two years continuous Government service as on first January, 2012, the upper age limit is relaxable by two years up to the age of 30 years

My question is: How this would be calculated? What shall be the cut-off date?
"Continuous service will be calculated from Date of appointment
or Date of Joining Govt. Job."

In fact, I am getting over age next year. So please guide me that would I be eligible if I get Govt. Job this year? How can

My DOB is 1/March/1984

Regards

ghulammujtaba86 Tuesday, October 04, 2011 05:39 PM

my age is 26 years. I am working in Police department for last 8 years. Now I have been appointed by punjab public service commission as an accountant in local govt department in April 2012 for 5 years contract (likely to be permanent).
If I join new department would I be entitled for age relaxation for CSS exam.

a single day gap in service or between two jobs, renders one ineligible to claim age relaxation.

so what i have understood from ur post is, that person might not be eligible if he doesnot have two years continuous service in his current job.

kahlil143 Wednesday, April 18, 2012 01:17 PM

@ marilatif
it is not single day gap that will make you ineligible but it it is only one month salary gap in your payroll that matters.
i personally know two persons who are now CSP officers and both of them claimed age relaxation and they were given age relaxation despite two days gap.

what is the logic behind not giving age relaxation to the employees of autonomous bodies like WAPDA when it adopts the BPS pay scales ? and even in case when WAPDA employee applies through proper channel to another department, he / she is given pay protection on account of adoption of BPS pay scales by WAPDA.

Autonomous/semi-autonomous organizations/bodies do not fall under the ambit of Civil Service even though some of them may follow the BPS pay scale and other rules/regulations of the Civil Services. As such, even if at all WAPDA employees apply through proper chancel and adopt the BPS pay structure they do not get any age relaxation.

i asked the logic / reason behind this rule ? it seems logical to that extent when the autonomous body don't adopt BPS pay scales. and where the BPS pay scale has been adopted there is no difference in their perks and privileges like civil servants under the act.

Secondly is it not ambiguous when the pay protection is offered to the employees of autonomous bodies adopting BPS while applying through proper channel whereas age relaxation is not allowed.

Dear only pay is not the issue with the autonomous bodies/organizations. An autonomous body is taken as an independent unit within government structure, having its own policies /procedures to run its affairs to meet its objectives/goals, generating its own funds, recruiting its own personnel etc. They follow their own structure.

Perks and privileges are not linked only with following BPS pay system, there are lot of other things say hospitalization/medical facilities, fringe/special allowances, honorariums, transportation/vehicles, promotions, foreign tours/trips etc etc. And logic, I dont know. But perhaps they do not work under government and government rules are not fully applicable to them may be as such they have such rules... There are many instances that while following BPS pay system, many autonomous bodies have other allowances which are greater to normal civil servants.

As regards pay protection, dear it has been ruling by the government that a person cannot be given pay/conditions less favourable to which he was already taking. On this basis, the pay is adjusted to accommodate the persons coming from autonomous bodies.
