Thank You for the reply

Could you please expand on what GRE is? Also can you please advise whats the best source for improving your vocabulary that is relevant for the CSS exam.
Best source for improving your vocabulary is through GRE master words list given in Barron's GRE book. This word list is also available on this forum or you can download it completely from www.wordhacker.com. It contains 3991 words.
@ Shallowwater,

Thanks brother for initiating such a helpful thread aimed at assisting the aspirants for css2013.

Ofcourse, the significance of vocabulary can't be denied while preparing for CSS exam. Brother, having a vocabulary ranging from 2500-3000 words are enough for CSS?
Yes if you can master 2500 to 3000 words that would be enough not only for CSS exam but it would help you throughout your life at every stage and every exam.

@ Shallowater:

first of all, i appreciate you efforts for the upcoming CSS aspirants. Really its commendable job. adding further, i would like to stress to enlighten aspirants from some technicalities of the subjects especially compulsories...

Dear, how will it remain to study some little english novels for improving the vocabulary. In this way not only we improve the vocab but also understand and grasp the expression which helps a lot in essay or paragraph writing...
for instance: SOPHIES WORLD, ALCHEMIST etc...

apart from it, your suggestion for reading dawn is regularly is really a productive.

is the face-book group you mentioned active??

Thanks and Regards,

brother, simply doing a great job.

My brother has done BA as a private candidate from Punjab
university and doing a job in private company. My question
are as follows:

1-Is he able to appear in CSS exams?

2-Somebody told me that most of the persons appearing in CSS
are highly qualified e.g Doctors, Engineers and etc etc and they
will have a preference at every stage especially during the
interview stage because a bachelor degree holder will be neglected
by interviewers due to his low level degree even though a BA degree
holder is highly competent and able for civil services.

I want you make this clear.

@Shallowater

Can you please advise on the optional subjects as i am having a hard time deciding which subject to choose? Which are the high scoring subjects statistically speaking and if you don't mind me asking, which subject did you take?

Also regarding academies, can anyone recommend which academy is the best here in Lahore? Toppers or Officers Academy

Thank You

Islamic history, psychology, geography, forestry, british history, journalism, punjabi, International Law are scoring subjects. But marks will only come through hard work. If you are not well prepared then scoring subjects would also give hard time.

Officers academy is better than Toppers in Lahore.
