Default WHY CSS: Important query

As you all know that in css-2012, 10,066 candidates appeared in FPSC exam out of which only 800 were able to pass the examination. Now out of these 800 candidates only 218 people have been selected for appointment in different government services.

Now my question here is that those of the passed candidates who burnt the mid night oil to get through the exams and are still jobless, so isn't this injustice with them? Those who have references manage to get allocations but others are sidelined.

I am totally dissapointed with this situation as I was planning to prepare for css exam next year after completing bachelor's degree.

I would like to correct you that allocations are made on merit not references. For example if 10 seats are available and 20 people passed the written and interview examination then the seats will be given to those who secured higher marks, simple.

Selection of CSS officers is neither reference-based nor merit-based. It is rather quota-based. Hence, majority of the qualifiers from Punjab can not get allocated, whereas qualifiers from Sindh Urban, despite having the lowest positions, get allocated. I got 195th position in the CSS exam of year 2000 among 900 qualifiers. There were 206 vacancies available, but due to the quota-based recruitment, the qualifier from Sindh Urban WHO GOT 852ND POSITION GOT ALLOCATED, while I was not allocated despite having a much higher position comparatively. So, it is not illogical to say that CSS is not a competitive exam in the true sense.
