yes,a victory for IR aspirants. previously one couldn't opt both together but now it is very much possible to opt both subjects.so the marks from IR or Int'l law (100 marks each) increase to IR with Int'l law (300).

Yup, both can be opted now according to the new grouping. And, I would second Mr. Khattak that it is a victory for the aspirants who have somewhat interest in I.R

Yes there is. IR contains topics such as International Trade, International Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations, and most of all IL is included as a complete chapter in IR in addition to the topics above. One can safely say that IL overlaps with IR about thirty percent.

Exclamation

Thank you @Hadi
@Hafiz Mubasshar please give your input as well.
I am hesitant to opt IL because of its mercurial nature.as in you know it's technical and unpredictable(2014 paper was unconvential and technical).now if something like that happens(diverging from trend if the new syllabus is considered as an old wine in a new bottle)then what will we do?Moreover,i am also concerned whether the new IL syllabus is a lengthy one as compared to the old one?

actually there is no similarity or overlaping of syllabi, you wil have to cover many different topics in int law. Int law is recommended coz who prepares i.r does not feel difficulty in understaning the terms/int. Concept and therefore int law can be covered easily in short time. if you have any other good choice go with that one.

@gangxter:Thank you.actually i have least interest in IL.in fact,i will only go for IL if there is any considerable overlapping of both.otherwise Criminology is my option.so i am really double-minded.if there is substantial convergence btw IR&IL then i'll leave my interest thing behind nd ready to opt it.Criminology nd IL both are new subjects to me.

So far my view is concerned, I would say that Intl law would be a better and prudent choice especially if a candidate has opted/is going to opt I.R. If this is not the case, Criminology can be opted. But, one must keep in mind that Criminology is a a new subject for CSS aspirants and there is dearth of material also in the form of books through which one may cover it within required time. On the other hand, Intl Law has no such issues listed above.
