i am preparing for css 2018, i started from scratch and i spent 15 days till now. i am confused about whether a good prep can be done in 8 months or not?
should i join academy for guidance and start?

FYI I have academic record of 70-85% with science background.
I know it is a very basic question but please answer it.
Fact and experience based opinions are highly appreciated.

Yes you can do it in 8 months.
I joined an academy bexause i was completely clueless...did nt even know about this forum
And my experience says that i needed academy for current affairs and english... Current affaurs helped me in pak affaurs, essay,ir and us history.
I have a science background as well.so in my opinion if you think you can do good in current affairs and english by yourself, dnt go for academy. But if you need guidance get it from academy or any teacher.

Default kindly guide me regarding my subjects

Is chemistry a high-scoring subject?

Selecting International Relations with International Law is a good choice? or Int. Law with Political Science goes well?
..and yes! somebody kindly confirm that is it allowed to select IR with IL???

I do have a geography background, so would it be fine to select it or should I go for Psychology (as I've heard its easy to prepare, even without a prior knowledge)

IR and IL is a best combination. Specially, when it comes to IR then it is widely opted among aspirants as compared to Political Science because it is easy and one can prepare it quickly. Plus, if you have a geography background and you can prepare it quicker than Psychology then do opt for it as you must save your time as much as possible while preparation.

As far as the chemistry is concerned, I cannot comment since I don't know about it.

Go ahead, eight months are adequate subject to quality time.

You need not join academy if:
1. You are capable to surf quality stuff online
2. You can throw relevant and timely questions to your digital mentors / forum
3. You are good at avoiding useless activities of social networks
